Current Position: President CEP and CEPMV, Chairman Department of Emergency Medicine at Inova Loudoun Hospital, Medical Director Inova Loudoun Hospital Adult ED and Inova Loudoun Hospital Emergeny Care Center

What is you favorite pastime outside of the emergency department?
Travel.

Who gave you your best career advice? What was it?
My Surgical Residency Director told me, "Don’t go into a profession that you don’t love to do every day."

What's the most exciting thing on the horizon? Personal or Professional.
Travel with my family and my daughters preparing for college.  Development of a Trauma Center and more Tertiary Care capability at our CEP hospital - Inova Loudoun Hospital.  The success of CEPMV - Inova Mount Vernon Hospital - and moving into a new state of the art emergency department.

If you were just starting your residency now, what would you do differently?
If I was applying to residency now….I would talk more to the residents to see how happy they were.

How will things change in emergency medicine during the next decade?
First line APP interaction with higher acuity patients and closer physician supervision.  More freestanding EDs.  More regulation of management and care.
