What is you favorite pastime outside of the emergency department?
Running, hiking, "chasing cars"

Who gave you your best career advice? What was it?
I wish someone had given me advice early. I had to learn the hard way to pace myself and enjoy time with my kids...they grow up fast.

What's the most exciting thing on the horizon? Personal or Professional.
Personally, it's that my sons are in High School. It's challenging, but incredible to see them turn into men. I'm hoping to start training again for an Ironman.

If you were just starting your residency now, what would you do differently?
Enjoy the experience and take time to absorb the didactics.

How will things change in emergency medicine during the next decade?
Reimbursement will be transformative.

Most awkward encounter with a patient.
Was a resident on an EMS rotation. Call out for geriatric weakness at an apartment complex in an underprivileged part of town. Walked into the apartment, not what we expected... freshly painted walls, new furniture, fresh carpet. They pointed up upstairs. Grandpa was in the fetal position on the floor in the corner, with the fresh vacuum marks on the carpet up to the patient. Really redefines cleaning up for a guest.
