Client Spotlight | Preventing the Flu from Spreading at Sparrow Hospital
Emergency medicine physicians at Sparrow Hospital are battling a strong flu season in Michigan.Physicians with Emergency Medical Associates (EMA) are taking extra care in the emergency department at Sparrow. While the number of cases can't be tracked, Michigan is one of many states reporting widespread flu activity.
The isolation of flu patients and precautions for those visiting patients have been put in place to help prevent the illness from spreading.
EMA is a democratic, private emergency medicine group that sees over 120,000 patients annually among the combined emergency departments in the Sparrow Health System. The system includes a Level I Trauma Center, a freestanding emergency department, and a critical-access hospital.The Sparrow trauma center features a pediatric emergency department, scribes, and a clinical decision unit. Sparrow is the first Michigan hospital system to be affiliated with the Mayo Clinic.
EMA is currently looking for additional emergency medicine physicians to join their practice.
