Ohio Emergency Medicine Physician Awarded Top ACEP Honor

Columbus, OH - Earlier this year,  at the Emergency Medicine Leadership Forum, the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians, (Ohio ACEP) was pleased to present the 2015 Emergency Physician Medical Education Award to an outstanding physician educator, Michael A.Policastro, MD, FACEP, FACMT.

Dr. Policastro is an emergency physician employed by Qualified Emergency Specialists, Inc. (QESI) in Cincinnati, OH.  QESI provides emergency services to five facilities the Cincinnati area. 

The Emergency Physician Medical Education Award was established to recognize contributions to education in the field of Emergency Medicine. The honor is bestowed upon an emergency physician who will have exhibited exemplary teaching skills, implemented an exceptional educational program, and/or developed an innovative teaching model.

Inova Loudoun Hospital Announces $500,000 ED Expansion Project

Leesburg, VA – Inova Loudoun Hospital, recognized for providing world-class healthcare to meet the needs of our growing community, announces that it is fast-tracking a renovation and expansion of its award-winning Lansdowne Campus Emergency Room. The new facility will support the emergency medicine team and EMS transport units with a larger, more efficient design, faster connections to care for patients.

The Inova Loudoun Hospital Foundation is thrilled to announce an exciting challenge: Mike and Teresa Wheeler and Dr. Edward Puccio and his colleagues at Commonwealth Emergency Physicians (CEP), a Virginia emergency medicine group that provides emergency services to the hospital, have stepped forward to donate $250,000 each toward the ER project, for a total of $500,000 to support this critical initiative. They are challenging the community to contribute tax-deductible gifts up to $500,000 that they will match dollar for dollar. This million-dollar match will jumpstart the ER campaign, which has an overall fundraising goal of $1.5 million.

GEMG | California Emergency Physicians Group Expanding

Grossmont Emergency Medical Group (GEMG) is adding more licensed California emergency physicians and advanced practice providers due to an expansion project that is within a few years old. 

Sharp Grossmont Hospital’s state-of-the-art facility provides services to over 100,000 patients through their emergency department annually. The local area approved to enhance the facilities by approximately 90 patient beds, adding more ICU beds and Med/Surge beds to the upper floors of the facility. The enhancement allowed for more private rooms to have nicer amenities and features for the patients, which include flat-screen TV’s, and couches or reclining chairs for friends and family to utilize.
